Our online piano teacher Valerie offers classical piano lessons for ages 3 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Bachelor’s in Piano Performance and a wealth of experience teaching and performing on piano. She has been teaching piano lessons since 2015. Valerie started playing the piano at age of 7. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Pelita Harapan University in Jakarta, studying under Dr. Johannes Nugroho, and recently graduated from Master’s degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA, under the world renowned pianist Alon Goldstein. In the fall of 2024, she will pursue her study with Davide Cabassi at Luca Marenzio Conservatorio in Brescia, Italy. Valerie has performed in United States, Israel, Singapore, Austria, Netherland, and Indonesia. She received scholarships to participate in Tel-Hai International Piano Masterclass in Israel, Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Austria, and International Holland Music Session in Netherland. She was also invited by Emerald Coast Music Alliance Festival in Florida in 2021 to perform classical music for audiences who have less access for classical music. She has recently received first prize in Jefferson City International Piano Competition and had her debut with Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra in April 2024. Among others, she was also one of the finalists in Elizabeth Loker International Competition 2023, the recipient of Women Council’s Grant in UMKC for three years, and 2023 winner of Kansas City Musical Club Competition among others. She has worked with numerous professional pianists and pedagogues such as Malcolm Bilson, Golda Tatz, Dror Semmel, Davide Cabassi, Christopher Elton, and Peter Lang, among others. Valerie has just started to organize a concert series in Kansas City called “Musicians’ Journey” featuring herself and local classical musicians, aiming to share classical music to diverse audiences. Valerie received several awards including the Gold award UCSI International Piano competition 2020 and the Silver Award Indonesia Steinway Piano Competition 2018. She performed in various countries including the United States, Israel, Singapore and Indonesia. In January 2022, she had the opportunity to perform a concert tour around schools and college at Destin, Florida, in one week, as part of East Coast Music Alliance, aiming to share music to the community with less access to classical music. Other experience include being a part of Beethoven Sonata Marathon in Spring 2021, performing three Beethoven sonatas, premiering a new piece “Tempetuous Flow” by Yizhang Liu, as part of Ravel Reimagined concert, and her performance was selected as the winner of RMN Classical call for works, which will be featured in their album in 2022. Valerie also participated in Tel-Hai Piano Masterclass in Israel for three weeks in August 2022 with scholarship, under the world renowned concert pianists and teachers
