About Susannah
Our online piano teacher, Susannah, offers classical piano lessons for ages 2 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance, and a wealth of experience of both performing and teaching piano to students of all ages and abilities. She has studied at the New Orleans International Piano Institute and abroad at the Prague International Masterclasses, and has been teaching piano lessons since 1999. As an active freelance pianist, she has performed solo concerts throughout the Southeast United States, and also with small chamber ensembles in North and South Carolina, as well as with the University of North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Winston-Salem Symphony, and Furman Orchestra. This piano teacher is a much sought-after piano accompanist for instrumentalist, singers, and students, and has worked regularly accompanying solo and choral groups in church and school settings, as well as with student and professional opera programs. She is a two-time winner of the North Carolina state Music Teacher National Association Young Artist competition, winner of the Greensboro Music Teachers Association Young Artist Competition, and winner of the University of North Carolina Greensboro Concerto Competition. For ten years she taught at The Music Academy of North Carolina as an Associate Master Teacher of piano and early childhood music. Furthermore, she has taught piano courses and piano lessons at UNC Greensboro, NC A&T, Guilford College, Salem College, and Furman University, and continues to teach piano in various summer programs, including Furman’s Summer Keyboard Institute and the Eastern Music Festival Explorers Camp. This piano teacher is Musikgarten licensed and certified, and has taught early childhood music classes for ESL, autism, and hearing impaired pre-K students in schools. In 2008, she was the awarded the Mary Elizabeth King Brown Teaching Excellence Award.
